Humber Enterprise Park was undergoing a major transformation programme, bringing new workspace, infrastructure and investment to a historically significant aviation site on the Humber estuary.

The challenge was creating a sense of cohesion across a large and evolving estate while redevelopment works were still taking place in phases. Some buildings had already been refurbished and occupied, while others remained untouched. The environment needed to feel connected, navigable and confident long before every part of the masterplan was complete.

Working from the existing brand strategy, we developed and implemented an environmental graphics programme across the wider site, bringing together wayfinding, signage, identity and large-scale graphic interventions into a single coordinated experience.

Aviation heritage became a unifying thread throughout the development. Building identities, colour systems and environmental graphics drew from historic aircraft references, helping different parts of the estate feel distinct while still belonging to a wider whole. From entrance signage and wayfinding through to architectural graphics and installations, the experience was designed to unfold consistently across the site.

One of the most visible interventions became an unexpected focal point within the wider programme.

Positioned at the entrance to the park, a large industrial building awaiting future redevelopment presented a very different challenge. Rather than attempt to disguise it, we used the scale of the structure itself as a graphic opportunity. A large-format installation transformed the high-level façade into a landmark feature visible across the site, introducing movement, colour and identity at a scale impossible to ignore.

At ground level, commissioned street-art interventions added another layer to the experience. The silhouetted figures and playful graphic details create moments of interaction, subtly shifting focus away from the condition of the building itself. Most people notice the graphics first. Only afterwards do they realise many of the original windows behind them remain smashed or missing entirely.

The approach was strategic as much as visual. While redevelopment continued elsewhere on site, these interventions allowed Humber Enterprise Park to project confidence and momentum immediately, without waiting for every phase of construction to complete.

Alongside these larger moments, wayfinding and environmental graphics improved clarity and navigation across the estate. Tenant buildings were given their own distinct identities within the wider system, supported by coordinated signage, architectural graphics and branded touchpoints that brought consistency to the environment without becoming repetitive.

The result is an environment that feels connected, navigable and full of character. More importantly, it demonstrates how environmental branding can actively support regeneration, reshaping perception and creating impact long before redevelopment is fully complete.

One of the standout aspects of working with agency4D was their collaborative approach. They worked seamlessly with all stakeholders, keeping the project aligned with the original vision while delivering everything on time and to an exceptionally high standard. The feedback from stakeholders and end users has been overwhelmingly positive, and the transformation of the site speaks volumes about the quality of their work.
I would have no hesitation in recommending agency4D for any project where creativity, quality and flawless delivery across environments, externals, signage and wayfinding are critical to success.
